Alvin

So I called up my friend Alvin Youngblood Hart and asked him if I could copy his turn of the century grand concert-sized Stella twelve-string. He agreed, so I went to Memphis, took measurements and tracings of the guitar and returned to Madison to start the building the first one. I became so obsessed with the project that I quit my job as a carpenter and dedicated almost the entire summer to building my Stella copy.

I finished it in about 2 1/2 months and it was a great guitar. Pretty soon, all of my guitar playing friends wanted one and I thought, "Wouldn't it be great if I could do this for a living?" Since then, I have been tracking down other rare six and twelve string ladder braced guitars and incorporating them into my guitar building repertoire. Angelina
